AAA Saloon Cup Rounds 7 & 8 July 24th Oulton Park
AJEC Racing“Blast in the Park”On the 24th July Vaughan will be joining the drivers in the “AAA Saloon Cup” at Oulton Park in Cheshire.
A favourite circuit of Vaughan’s, he has decided to branch out to run rounds 7 and 8 of the AAA Cup.
He will be running in the Group B class which has a power limit @flywheel of 400BHP, and he will be running against the likes of Mitsubishi Evo’s, Subaru’s and other 4wd machinery.
As a front runner in one race series, there is a lot at stake for us to enter into a new format. We’re going into this on the back of a considerable number of race wins, but we know we will be up against much higher powered cars.
However, we want to show the current front running Group B cars they can’t have it all their own way!
Set up for 2010, the AAA Saloon Cup is designed to provide close racing for any AWD race car.
With a huge range of amateur and experienced drivers ranging between the ages of 19 and 70 years old, and with a good mix of cars, this promises to produce some of the best saloon racing of all time.
Past race winners have included the Escort Cosworth of Nick Williamson going to show it’s not all about Japanese makes running the show.
“AAA” aims is to bring this series into the public eye as much as possible, with appearances on Sky Sports and Motors TV a short while after the event.
The features editor from “Evo” magazine is also confirmed as a guest driver in a Group B Evo at Oulton, so there should be a race report appearing in that publication as well.
The event is part of the “Blast in the Park” weekend, which takes place on the near 2 and a half mile circuit, one of the longest circuits in the UK.
As well as the two rounds of the AAA, there will be three rounds of “Formula Palmer Audi” (360bhp single seaters), the Golf GTI Championship, and the SPEED and BESCR endurance racing series.
Were looking forward to this new opportunity, and hope to achieve good results.
